Diligent Practice Welcomes The Compassionate Mother Home

[Bangkok] For the duration of two public holidays, the Thai Center especially organized a 2-day retreat. On one afternoon, during the meditation session, Master suddenly appeared. Awakened from our meditation, we were delighted to see our beloved Mother whom we all thought of day and night. Everyone exclaimed that the consequence of diligent practice is really great; we were abundantly rewarded by our two days of meditation.  It was Thai Mother's Day (the Queen's Birthday) when Master came to Thailand, and after discovering that the Thai disciples were having a retreat, She immediately came by for a visit. We, the disciples, felt so touched by Her boundless love and compassion. Although She was exhausted and hadn't slept for three days and nights, She still spent quite some time with us to satisfy our longing.  Master jokingly talked about Her sleepless three days and nights due to Her busy and urgent schedule, telling us that throughout the journey to Bangkok, She was hoping to have some time for Herself to rest. However, something always happens to disappoint Her, time after time. She tried to remind us that sometimes we need to attend to the most important things in our lives; anything we need to do first, we should do it and not delay till the next day. We should try our best to work, just as if there is no tomorrow, because we do not know whether we will still be alive tomorrow or what is going to happen the next moment. 		On the day Master returned to Thailand, She coincidentally met the Cambodian First Prime Minister's wife, HRH the Princess Marie, on the same flight. Master chatted with the Princess all the way to Bangkok. Master also mentioned that the First Prime Minister (HRH Prince Norodom Ranariddh) of Cambodia came to the airport privately to see his wife off. Furthermore, the night before, he drove her to dinner himself. The Prince is very caring of his wife even though they have been married for a long time and their children have all grown up. Master mentioned that the royal couple is a very good example for the couples of nowadays, that no matter how long one has been married, one should love and care for each other and understand each other. Master also admires the Princess because she is a very kind person. She helps the poor people, sometimes even personally giving them the things they need. She does not do this for the press or for a promotional motive but out of her kindness and concern for her people and her country.  Master continued to remind us not to fall asleep during meditation, because we will lose our time and energy and gain nothing. She reminded us many times that we come here to learn, although we have the free will to do whatever we want. God will not punish or blame us, but it is our conscience that will feel sorry. When we leave the physical body, we will review what we have done in this life, and we feel like a blank tape, too plain; then we will ask for another life to make it more colorful and meaningful.  Even though our time with Master was very short, we learned many lessons from Her. So, on this Mother's Day occasion, we, all Thai disciples, would like to thank our Supreme Mother for the never-ending care She bestows upon Her children and leading us to experience every moment of our life bravely, fulfilling the Truth and love in our life.¸1

Lecture-Van Spreads The Dharma 

[Taichung] To allow more people the opportunity to listen to a living Buddha's teachings and be introduced to the Quan Yin Method, the Taichung Center selected four communities, in spite of the city's size, to play Master's videotapes. They especially chose an evening when there was no group meditation.  On one occasion, the lecture-van arrived at a remote community where the simplicity and innocence of the local people enabled the activity to proceed smoothly. The van was situated in the center of the community where all the pedestrians passed by. A local citizen wholeheartedly volunteered to help, and repeatedly informed everyone, both in Mandarin and Formosan, of the news. Thus, many local people came to our van and eagerly attended the event.  While the video was playing, some of the audience watched very attentively from beginning to end; the scene was very moving. Furthermore, many people asked for the sample booklets and News magazines. A mother with a little girl came to watch the videotape; and before leaving, the little girl had a big stack of magazines in her arms and was reluctant to leave. Master's seed of affinity and the Quan Yin Method had already been sown in their hearts.  The lecture played that day was very suitable for those who first heard of the Quan Yin Method, enabling them to have a basic understanding of Master's teachings and answering their inner questions. Many thanks to the ingenious arrangement from the supreme wisdom! 		"Use Hand And Brain" Happy Summer Camp  [Chia-Yi] Chia-Yi Center made good use of the summer vacation and organized two summer camp activities called "Happy Growing Camp". Activities at these camps included physical exercise and "use hand and brain". The physical exercise included Chinese yo-yo, rope jumping and aerobics. "Use hand and brain" activities included the basics of Chinese ink painting, kite making, and making popsicles, sushis, cold noodle dressings and sandwiches. There were also outdoor picnics, singing by the stream and treasure hunts. Overall, the camp activities include eating and drinking, as well as physical workouts. The children really had a great time.  Aside from these activities, there were also other activities held: guiding the children in how to keep their minds peaceful and how to concentrate when working, and story-telling to teach them compassion towards all things and to keep a virtuous and non-violent mind at all times.  At the conclusion of the camps, there was a lot of feedback: The children wished to have more similar events, and the sisters who organized the events also learned a great deal, realizing that we should work for perfection, but then we should go beyond perfection and be able to tolerate imperfection; only then can we live a balanced and happy life.    Chia-Yi Center's children are learning how to make some simple and delicious vegetarian foods.

Broadcasting Master's Love On Screen

 In recent years, more and more people have been initiated after having watched Master's videos broadcasted on channel 4 nationwide TV. Receiving Master's blessing of love, they stepped onto the true path of practice, the Quan Yin Method, practicing sincerely after initiation. 	



On seeing this, in order to let more people have affinity with Master and satisfy their longing to find the original home of the soul, the Taipei Center worked together to spread the Truth and purify the world's atmosphere. They started by contacting the people in the TV business in the big Taipei area to discuss broadcasting Master's videos as a means of spreading the Truth and sharing Master's great love and wisdom on screen. This action was strongly supported by all.  This activity is now proceeding full-scale. Many people in the TV business welcomed this and sincerely cooperated: Some immediately broadcasted the videos while others rearrange the schedule and to use prime time to broadcast several times a day, benefitting both the audience and themselves. Fellow practitioners in Taipei had also put this sharing of Master's love into action by collecting and contributing the treasured videos to the TV business for broadcasting.  Everyone participated and worked hard in this selfless and divine work so that more souls would be able to receive the good news of a master coming into the world to teach sentient beings. It is also an opportunity for them to grasp the once in a million years best chance of getting enlightenment and liberation. It is also hoped that the ideal of converting the world into a Pure Land could be achieved sooner, allowing Master's grace to be widespread in every land, dispelling the violent and cruel atmosphere that is causing a lot of natural disasters. Even more so, fellow practitioners prayed that Master's love would solve the troubles of the ignorant, converting them from ignorance to wisdom; to fulfill the ideal of spiritual purity; raise the spiritual level of mankind; allow smooth communication between Earth and the high level planets in the universe; allow the Truth, virtue and beauty of Her divine love to be manifested on Earth; and to convert the mundane world into heaven.  There have been many touching stories ever since Master's videos have been broadcasted on channel 4. Some members of the audience have now become fellow practitioners of the Quan Yin Method, and the reporters have collected some stories as feedbacks.  (1) The Wanderer Goes Home  Brother Lin Chiu Yin was a researcher in natural science. He had been using materialism as the basis for his viewpoint with regard to life's phenomena and the mystery of the universe. Therefore, he had no spiritual beliefs and did not accept the theories of cause and effect and reincarnation on which he often debated.  Despite all these, he began to doubt his own concepts. As he could not satisfy his inner yearning for the Truth, he silently studied some religious scriptures and related books. He had even tried to recite and memorize some long mantras which he did not understand. Furthermore, he attempted to consolidate his firm materialistic beliefs and hoped to understand more about real facts. However, he still could not understand many things. With such confusion, he turned to beseeching the gods and Buddha to console his heart. 		Brother Lin's sincerity finally got in touch with Master's "channel". On one occasion, he saw Master's lecture-video on TV. He felt that Master's dress and lecture content were very different from other so-called "masters". He was very eager to know more about Master's teachings and, therefore, often thought about Her, this great spiritual teacher.  When brother Lin once again watched Master's video on TV, Master's delightful glamour, humorous speech and the profound lecture content deeply drew him. Although he was already over sixty years of age and had experienced so many things in the past, the usually not-easily-moved brother Lin experienced a great shock within his being. The feeling of getting something so precious made him so happy that he cried and cried, unable to hold back the flow of tears. He then decided to follow Master and get initiation to begin his practice.  Since initiation, everyday has become smoother, his business has become better and better, and his relationship with relatives has become happier. Furthermore, the family atmosphere is more harmoniou and Mrs. Lin has also started to learn the Convenient Method, soon to become an initiate.  "My heartfelt feeling now is just like a traveller who had been wandering for years and suddenly rediscovered his home. Everything is so happy, safe and smooth. I have to thank Master's grace for everything I have at the moment," brother Lin commented.  (2) An Oasis In The Desert  Brother Lai Yee Zong was raised in an open-minded religious family. Family members either believed in Taoism, Buddhism or Christianity. He himself attended a Catholic school. Despite all this, brother Lai maintained the viewpoint that human life was nothing more than a material living phenomenon.  Without knowing when, brother Lai somehow felt that life was much more mysterious than what he had thought. One time, he got hold of a copy of Master's sample booklet. As he was reading the article "Why Should One Be A Vegetarian," his heart was deeply touched and he started to cry. Master's compassion left a deep impression on him.  Later, he subscribed to pay-TV and discovered that there was a broadcast of Master's lecture-videos. Initially, it was Master's beautiful voice, Her humorous answers and rich expressions that attracted brother Lai. All these elements made the program of spreading the Truth happy and interesting. "Listening to Master's videos was so relaxing, so free and the time passed in laughter," brother Lai recalled.  Brother Lai became more and more interested in watching Master's lecture-video program. He also felt that Master does really have the supreme method and treasure. He then went to the book circulation center to buy several copies of "The Key Of Immediate Enlightenment". He became so absorbed in reading the books that he finished them all in one go, non-stop. He was fully convinced by Master's perfect teachings and method that he could not wait to apply for initiation.  "At that time, I was just like a traveller who had gotten lost in a desert, trapped in a hot, longing and almost hopeless circumstance. Then suddenly I discovered a green land in front of me," brother Lai said.  Now, Mrs. Lai is also convinced by Master's teachings and has become a practicing partner with brother Lai. They are helping and encouraging each other, walking together on the road of Truth.

Spoken By Supreme Master Ching Hai (Originally In Chinese) 

*We don't have to fear anything in this world; we only have to fear that our faith is insufficient, that our wisdom is not developed, and that we cannot understand the meaning of it. 

*We pursue spiritual practice because we want to use it to make our daily life more comfortable. Our spiritual cultivation within should be used on the outside, so we can see the result. We will also feel very comfortable, very useful and have great progress. 

*Anything can be a good thing if we know how to use it. 

*Always introspect and we will know why we have no progress, and why our spiritual level is not high. 

*It is not difficult to pursue spiritual practice. It is also easy to become a Buddha -- simply be like a child. 

1.*In doing anything, including seeking the Truth, if we do not know the key point, we could be separated or dragged away at any moment, because we are not stable. 

3. *Don't discriminate which job is good or which is bad. Trouble arises when we discriminate and have preferences. 

4.*All the agony, joy, wrath, sorrow and happiness are caused by habits. Therefore, we must see through this point! Nothing is really good, and nothing is really agonizing. We are only bound by our habits. 

5.*Apart from meditation, there are no other ways to break through our preconceptions.

Don't mind left and right. Just concentrate within at all times. Grab your attention back, don't let it run away, and don't let it be pulled away by other things nearby. Then we'll easily get into samadhi.

 The Reward Of Sincere Service  Master Lights Up My Life  Taking A Broad View, The Truth Is Seen Everywhere 

The Reward Of Sincere Service  By Brother Initiate Tze-yang Huang, Taipei, Formosa 		As my work in the mundane world became easier, with good returns in both fame and finance, my level of practice became lower and lower. My confidence also became less and less. Fortunately, my heart still believed in Master and She had never abandoned such a disciple who barely thought of improving. She woke me up from my sleep and let me experienced again the brilliance of the spirit. 	



When I was at my lowest level of practice, I was invited to participate in the working group. Every time I was perspired while moving things, I felt that the karma was running off with the perspiration. The unnamed burden in my heart was much relieved. Gradually, I discovered that it was not I that was helping in Master's work, it was actually Master who was working to help us. I felt ashamed; nevertheless, it was also a warm and touching feeling.  Once and incidentally, I was asked if I would like to participate in the security guard work. I initially doubted that with my state of practice, how could I possibly take up such a job to positively guard the dharma? Then, on second thought, I felt it might be a lesson from Master. Subsequently, I accepted as an "apprentice".  When I introduced myself at my first security guard meeting, another brother said jokingly, "You come out to work now after so many years of being initiated; your kung fu in tolerance is really great." This comment made me feel so ashamed that I tried to look for a hole in the floor to crawl into. Nevertheless, it also alerted me that time was passing fast. With so much ignorance, when could I get enlightened? Therefore, I made up my mind to start again completely fresh. From that time onwards, although the everyday work was still complex and demanding, I felt stable and happy, and my determination in practice could not be easily disturbed.  There was a monthly meeting for the security guards just before the time we had to go on duty. On one hand, it was a necessity, and on the other hand, it was also a good chance for brothers to exchange their learning and concepts in practice; it also included discussions on Master's teachings. The inspiration for the spirit was so good that it could not be described in words. Usually at mundane meetings, one speaks from one's own stand point. At the security guards' meetings, I could feel that the only concept was how to serve others sincerely. Master has said: When we are wholeheartedly thinking of others, we are close to Buddha. When we think wholly of ourselves, then we are close to Maya. There is no need to ask what your level of experience is. Therefore, to serve others selflessly is, in fact, the best lesson learn to be a Buddha. 		In the work of the security guard, some people did a lot and talked little, while others were very good in expressing themselves. Both cooperated and used their talents to their fullest. Everyone was of the same heart, and the spiritual guide - - Master was always with us.  Working as a security guard is a very happy and never tiring job. To work for others is, in fact, working for ourselves. To love others is, in fact, to love ourselves. It would be more correct to say that the work of security guard is a place for quick improvement rather than to say that it is a place for diligent practitioners to develop their hearts. Generally speaking, every fellow practitioner is a guard, not just those who are wearing the yellow vests. The degree of participation of fellow practitioners also reflects their belief in the power of group meditation. The guarding of the power of group meditation should be the ideal and duty of every sincere fellow practitioner.  No matter whether one is in the 'winter' of practice, or sincerely hoping to improve their inner qualities and practice diligently, participating courageously in work to serve others will certainly bring unimaginable enlightenment to make one understand Master better and better and to realize the supreme value of the Quan Yin Method.

Master Lights Up My Life

In the past few years, due to a series of unexpected tragedies, several of my family members died, leaving me doubting the meaning of my life, depressed and uprooted. Sometimes, I even foolishly and ignorantly considered taking my life in order to escape. My days were filled with tears. One of Master's disciples lived downstairs and often came to comfort me, bringing me spiritual food -- The Key Of Immediate Enlightenment -- which unlocked the chains around my heart. Master's teachings are just like a church bell; every word and every sentence unraveled the puzzles in my heart.  After reading Master's book, I immediately decided to keep a vegetarian diet, hoping to receive initiation from Her. There were several times when I saw Master's transformation body in my dreams, coming to comfort my depressed soul. At that time, I did not realize what a transformation body was but after initiation, I knew. I realized that Master was already supporting me invisibly during that difficult part of life's journey.  I did not receive initiation in my own country. Perhaps my time had not yet come. But when I went overseas, I wrote to Master and asked if I could be initiated soon. Upon receiving the letter, She sent a Quan Yin messenger to initiate me, fulfilling my deepest wish.  Through the initiation, I knew very deeply that Master had taken over my karma and that of my five generations. Every time I think of the suffering that Master has taken on for sentient beings, my eyes fill with tears.  I truly thank Master for letting me know what is meant by "sickness and suffering is merit". If I had never experienced this pain, I fear that I would never have thought of practicing, not to mention searching for a Master and the Truth.  Now, I am still working as usual in my original post. However, there is no more worries visible on my face. I can freely speak and laugh. If my colleagues knew of my upheavals in the past, they would certainly be surprised: How come suddenly, just like turning over a new leaf, the whole person has totally changed to another one? I become more active, optimistic, confident and easily satisfied. These are all due to the grace of Master. At the same time, this is also a proof of 'immediate enlightenment, liberation in one lifetime' in the method as transmitted by Master.

Taking A Broad View, The Truth Is Seen Everywhere

If only we could break through the barrier of the ego and reunite with the Truth, then everything would be natural and perfect. 

Practicing the supreme Quan Yin Method is truly like what the scriptures have described, and what Master has said, "At every moment of each day, one learns lessons from within and without." Unfortunately, I have not been able to concentrate inwardly at all times to receive these precious teachings; I feel very regretful and ashamed. At the same time, I feel ineffable gratitude towards Master since it is She who guides me to practice diligently everyday. Even though up to now I have been unsuccessful one time after another, I still continue to struggle. However, ever since I have learned to concentrate on my wisdom eye, I have realized my true Self and have some deep understandings and feelings.  For a period of time, I felt that it was very tiring to speak, to the extent that speaking several sentences for me was as exhausting as moving dozens of big stones. Sometimes my mouth was so uncooperative that it refused to open to speak. If I had to speak, I felt like it was a great suffering to do so; because I didn't feel like talking. If I forced myself to answer, it would be disjointed, making myself very tired and others very uncomfortable. This unwillingness to speak caused some misunderstandings and yet was hard to explain. It is because I was attentively trying to concentrate inwardly, and then suddenly had to switch from my wisdom eye to a person's topic; this sudden switch caused me great suffering. Compare this to Master when She gives lectures and chats with us, what a giant gap She has to undergo! However, She does it with ease; what great compassion and love! What a noble mission it is to help the needy and relieve the distressed! Her love is as immense as the universe. Compared to Her, how can I complain? I can only practice more and more diligently to repay Her magnanimous grace.  Contrastingly, whenever I need to communicate with fellow practitioners concerning our work, I feel very relaxed -- as easy as talking to myself. A little hint here, a little pointer there and we can understand each other. There is no language to describe this exactly; it just feels right with fellow practitioners at that moment. We can understand each other using only a few words. Such conversation or "communication" is really smooth and easy.  It's also very interesting when I talk to people who have affinity with Master. My mouth spontaneously and unceasingly begins to talk, even my brain fails to respond sometimes. But the outcome of the lively, witty metaphors and anecdotes even amazes myself! However, when my ego pops out, at that moment the inspiration immediately disappears, leaving my brain blank; the listeners can only shake their heads. If I continue to talk, I start to contradict my previous reasoning and they begin to argue with me. Then I panic, causing further confusion and discrepancy. Finally, I dare not continue to talk anymore.  After several lessons, I came to realize that the ego is our greatest enemy. Without the blessings from the supreme power, it is very difficult to overcome the ego. Moreover, without a Master who teaches a method of connecting with the supreme power, we would simply be deceiving ourselves, as well as others, into thinking that we have "no ego," that we "devote ourselves selflessly". In fact, it is at this moment that our ego is greatest. Master sometimes gives lectures lasting several hours or an entire evening, yet Her lectures are accommodating, tactful and flawless. If the lectures are not from the supreme wisdom and the pure, egoless God, where else do they come from?  We are the God also, but the times we behave like a God are too few and too short -- just several minutes or seconds -- then our ego pops out and hinders God, like a thick wall separating the universe into individual small rooms. Then we sit in our small room thinking that we are safe. It is like a frog at the bottom of the well; from there it is hard to get a glimpse at the wonders of the universe. If only we could break through the barrier of the ego and reunite with the Truth, then everything would be natural and perfect.

Love Makes You Grow, And Makes The Universe Go On 



The lessons of love are boundless and all encompassing. Listen to the voice from deep within our souls, then we will understand. Because of love, it makes us grow. Because of love, it makes the universe, the world go on. 	



This Buddhist country of lotus is so beautiful and free of contamination; Cambodia is a country with a glorious past, yet her people have gone through the painful experience of war.  All we can observe here are urgent needs for help, loving care and medical aid. Influenced by Master's compassion, we (the working team and medical team) have come here.  The innocent little children ought to be enjoying their worry-free childhood. Instead, we see them holding their fists tightly to endure the pain from their pus-filled and inflamed wounds. Their tiny bodies denote that they are suffering from malnutrition. Their naked feet, full of ulcers caused by wounds dressed by mud, are indicative of their poverty. It is a miracle that they stay alive in such conditions. Medical care, so essential in the civilized world, is like a myth in the Arabian Nights to them. We look like a baby in an incubator who has no immune ability - sheltered by civilization in every way. Conversely, they bravely display their elasticity of adapting to life. 		All these things are to provide us with "lessons of love". Whenever we are concerned about other people's sufferings, we forget ourselves and thus become somewhat elevated. We, fellow practitioners, come here striving for the same objective. A little ailment could not possibly deter our earnestness. All these lessons are arranged by Master, God, the Bodhisattvas for us to learn! Helping others is helping oneself, and loving others is loving oneself. The lessons of love are boundless and all encompassing. Listen to the voice from deep within our souls, then we will understand. We didn't decide to come here for any reason, except love. These people do not really need or have to rely on anything that we give them. Everything is functioning according to the will of God, the Bodhisattvas. We come here only to learn lessons of love. Only love can help us grow. The universe, the world, continues to function only because there is love.

Embrace This Sky Of Love

Silently and willingly doing jobs that no one wants to do.

Ordinary people may find the disposal of garbage a necessary but disgusting task. However, fellow sisters in the sanitation team volunteered to do the job with joy. They deeply realize that it is easier to develop our noble quality within with the help of a lowly situation.  The main duties of the sanitation team are categorizing and disposing of the garbage, and cleaning the environment. Disposal of the garbage includes incinerating and burying it. Regarding the cleaning of the environment, anything concerning cleanliness that can be observed could be within the work scope of the sanitation team. There are also many temporary assignments, like repairing water pipes, covering toilet pits, and paving roads.  According to sister Shen of the sanitation team, one doesn't need experience to work in Raising Center. We might be new to the job, but if we are not limited and distressed by the mind, the job can be done naturally. Another resident disciple said that, all the working members here have reached a unanimous understanding - give help wherever it is required. The feeling of working in different positions but in cooperation makes them flow harmoniously as if they were one. Sister Shen said that there are always difficulties wherever we work. This place is no exception. Once, she was bitten by a snake but she didn't have the slightest feeling of fear. She just calmly treated the wound herself, because she believed Master is always taking care of us. In the same situation, an ordinary person would be terrified and would not know what to do. She said, "We don't even have to pray, and Master's incredible power has already solved the problem." 		Rain and storms are inevitable. Under whatever situations, it is most important to maintain a strong faith in the Master-power/ Truth. Should we encounter problems in our work, just meditate more and pray to the inner Master for help, the problems will be solved naturally. If we generate a peaceful ambiance from within, denoting our desire for cooperation and coordination, naturally the work can be accomplished easily and perfectly.  Sister Shen said that we come to this land and volunteer to brave any challenges. Whatever is within our ability, we should contribute more effort in that respect. Furthermore, we will become more enlightened as we work. Therefore, if fellow practitioners could personally participate in the work, the experiences derived can help their inner wisdom to manifest. Only the information generated from within (the wisdom) is error free! Then, we truly realize that the sky over Raising Center is a sky of love, towering above a world of joy and laughter. They Need Love -- A Note From The Medical Team

We don't often see the suffering and lamenting in the comfortable civilized parts of the world. However, Bodhisattvas manifest in a physical body to Lo Sapo World for this particular purpose.	



In his mother's arms, a child was covered with pocks, some of which were suppurated. He was sucking on his own tiny and injured thumb while flies were attacking his naked body. His mother looked at me, I understood her without knowing her language. A seven-year old boy, who is shorter than normal five- or six-year old boys, was lying against his mother's chest. He was congested and had a fever, and occasionally opened his big spiritless eyes. His anxious mother spoke in a language I didn't understand, hoping that we could help her child. We tried to hold back our tears.  Another three-year old child had an injured index finger cut by something. The long and deep gash had not been sterilized and dressed for a week. After being cleaned and sterilized, the wound showed suppuration and swelling; the child did not even cry. I believe that the pain was not only from his index finger, but also from the young mother's heart. 		There were many more suffering circumstances caused by poverty and shortage of medical supplies. If it was not for Master's compassion, who would see to their needs and hear their inner cries? I remember what Master always says: To love each other is to look in the same direction."  We can see Master's boundless love, especially in the most needed places. She always takes care of everything thoroughly, no matter how tedious things may be. Too many things are beyond description. The best way is to see it and do it. Isn't it the same with spiritual practice?

Little children happily bustle about, jumping and shouting,

Chinese, Japanese, Koreans and Westerners all feel spirited and happy.

Piling up bricks, our hands and feet are colored red,

No language is needed,

Together we enjoy the hammock and bread.

With bare feet, we run about,

In the Joyful Building, our laughter is clear and resounding.

Mothers smile with understanding.

Being bestowed with blessings and brightness,

A coconut-flavored breeze floats like a cloud around us each day.

The Beautifying Angels

The Gardening Team of the development Project at Raising Center is responsible for beautifying the environment. They learn how to live a simple and satisfied life from the daily work.  Every morning after breakfast, the sisters in the gardening team congregate at the front gate before going to different sites to trim trees, flowers and picked up dried leaves. They water the plants, pave stone roads, and support newly planted saplings with stakes so that they will not be blown away by the next gust of wind. Sister Mei-Gui Wu told us that when one of the sisters found a nail that has been hammered onto the trunk of a big tree, she was very upset and even cried. Also, when another sister dug the earth and accidentally hurt a tiny sentient being, she was sad for many days. This kind of love comes from the understanding that "all are one". Therefore, let us realize why Master wants us to silently recite the Holy Names at all times; because we might hurt other sentient beings without being aware of it.  As the front gate is the place where important guests are received, the sisters have planted many bright and beautiful flowers right in front of the Guest House. Colorful butterflies fly to and fro like fairies, while bees buzz around admiring one flower and the next looking for nectar; the scene resembles that of a fairyland. When the soft wind blows, a slight fragrance lingers in the air. Not to be outdone, the birds chirp merrily. The neighboring second Guest House is even more beautiful, more than what the eye can take in, with just too many things to see. Most of the flowers there were taken from the wild; therefore, they are very precious and most beautiful. 		When the work continues near Buddha Bath Hall and the Octagon Gazebo, a lot of wild flowers and withered trees are found there. So the first thing the sisters do is to dig with shovels, pulling out the roots gently, and then using a saw to cut off the smaller roots. The Korean sisters are very lively and cute. Whenever they are about to chop off the roots, they would yell, "Long life! Long life! Long life!" Then they would laugh together and sing a song to celebrate a job well done. Under the joyful atmosphere, they worked non-stop. Soon, all the withered trees are cut off. Even though the sisters cannot verbally communicate with each other -- because of the language barriers -- with just a few gestures here and there, the job is done smoothly. It is very pleasant.  When the hour approaches the end, the team prepares to put the chopped trunks, piece by piece, into the wagons to be sent to the tool room where they will be piled neatly, ready to be used; the longer ones will be used for building cabins, and the shorter ones will be used for boiling water and cooking rice. Making use of waste materials truly depicts the simple, happy life at Raising Center.

A Different Life

Sometimes a change of environment can help us correct the habits which have been accumulated over a long period of time, and further develop a different lifestyle so that our bodies and minds will change and we will become completely different and new individuals. 	



Before sister Dudu came to Raising Center, since her family managed a vegetarian food store, she often would use rich and varied ingredients and could easily make many different kinds of delicious food. She also had the habit of sitting in front of the TV, not wanting to get up; therefore wasting a lot of time. After she came to Raising Center, she discovered that here there is a relative lack of vegetarian ingredients, and that vegetables, melons and fruits are the main foods. She then came to understand that food can be cooked very simply and still be delicious. Especially when she ate the vegetables that had been grown at Raising Center; the taste of a joyful mood melting into the vegetables was incomparable to any other delicious food. After she stayed here for a period of time, she also naturally changed her habitual dependence on the TV set. 		From the above experiences, she deeply realized that a person can actually be changed and it is not as difficult as we think. Because we are too used to our life-long lifestyles, we become bound by our environment. At the same time, we rely too much on material things and forget that our lives can be simple and happy as well. Besides, as long as we are willing to try, we can lead quite a different life.

Find A Way To Survive

No matter what kind of life we live, we have to find a way to survive. We can do it! God will arrange it, but only if we find our own God within. Then Hes will take care of us. When we work for the worldly boss in this world, he pays us a salary. At least it provides us with food to eat, a place to live, and gives us clothes to wear, not to mention working for God. How could Hes not take care of us? Besides, we are God! (Audience applauds.) So when we encounter difficulties or unpleasant situations, talking to ourselves (Higher-Self) is good enough. At this time, our wisdom will automatically emerge to handle the matter. If Hes really doesn't handle it, then that means that our time is up (Master and audience laugh) and we have to leave! If we have to leave, then we leave! Haven't we said that we are already fed up with this world? Even so, we don't ask for death day and night. We used to demand to live longer, but now we don't ask for death day in and day out. Let it be natural. In any circumstances, we have to try to make things better. If the circumstances aren't very good, then we think of a better way to improve them.  There must be a way. When meditating, we think about the problem, and then the answer and suggestion will naturally come. At that moment, that is our inner Master answering us. If by any chance our inner ear is deaf (Master and audience laugh), Hes will try to think of another way to tell us, such as letting us accidentally hear someone singing a song that happens to teach us how to do it. But if you hear that Hes says "go die," you had better not follow it. (Master and audience laugh.) Sometimes they sing nonsense like, "If you leave me, I will die." Then don't listen to it. (Master and audience laugh.) Even if you are lovesick, it is not such a big deal, no need to die because of that. There are still a lot of other people in this entire world. Dying for one person is too senseless! (Master laughs.) A lot of situations are created by yourselves, maybe you wanted to do these in your last life. 		If we practice well, we will communicate easily with our inner Master and will do things smoothly. Our thinking will be exactly the same as Master's. In this case, I will be very happy and you will feel happy and at ease, too. You won't know why but you will be very relaxed and feel that you are doing the right thing. In doing anything, you will feel completely satisfied, even without anyone praising you. We will still know that we are doing the right thing, because we communicate inside. If we do not communicate inside, our ego, our desires for fame and gain will be overwhelming, then whatever we do is wrong. If we are stubborn and arrogant about what we are doing, then we will mess everything up, whether it is a big matter or a minor thing. So we should practice more to cut our ego. Otherwise you can sit there for a hundred years and still just be rotten eggs. And you blame God, blame the Buddhas that they don't take care of us. We are Buddhas and God, too! Who do we need to take care of us? Right? (A: Yes!)

Wishes Fulfilled In A Life Of Spiritual Practice  By Young Brother Initiate Gin-nen Chen, Taipei, Formosa  Whenever I feel afraid or anxious about a difficult obstacle in my life, my inner transformation Master gives me Her blessings and encourages me to have faith and determination to overcome those obstacles with the power from meditation. Therefore, I believe in Master and like Her very much.  When I encounter obstacles that seem insurmountable I pray to the transformation Master to help me. As a result, I always receive answers quickly and obstacles are easily resolved. When I meet a competitive opponent in chess, I first observe the chess game with my wisdom eye. Then, I am able to find my opponent's weakness and can win the match. My chess has improved tremendously this way. Also, if I concentrate on my wisdom eye when I write, immediately I have a lot of inspiration. I have so many new ideas that I could go on talking about them forever. Master is like my talent teacher, She is always with me to help me in everything.

A Bright Light In The Dark Night  By Young Sister Initiate Ruhuang Zen, Taipei, Formosa  After we were initiated, some unimaginable things often happened to us. For example, on a windy night in the summer, the electric power was cut off. During the night, my sister wanted to go to the bathroom, but it was too dark for her to see the way. However, Master's picture on the wall, extraordinarily bright and sparkling, lit up the corridor. This showed that She takes care of us and is concerned about us at every moment.  Once my family was preparing to go to Hsihu for group meditation. It was just before dawn when I went into my room to straighten up my clothes. The room was very dark before I turned on the light, at which point I noticed that there was a very strong light surrounding the sides of Master's picture, and that there was a scene in the mirror -- the surface of the mirror was as clear as water. I tried to touch the mirror with my hand, and I truly felt that it could be passed through as though it were water. My family all said that the light must have been Master illuminating us.  On our path of spiritual practice, there are many such wonders that can not be comprehended. In fact, they are not strange but are Master's invisible power helping us. They occur because Master lives deep in our hearts and guides us along the correct path each and every minute and second.

A Great Game Of The Creator

  Actuaclly, each one of us is a Buddha, a God, at least part of God, part from the whole. Anything that is a part from the whole means it has the same quality anyhow. So, we are the mini Gods, and we are the Master. Each one of you is a Master, the Supreme Master at that. 	



The Plan To Return To The Kingdom But because you have created your own situations and circumstances in which you can thrive and you can recognize your own mastership, that's why you suffer a lot and you have to undergo a lot of unGodly situations and qualities -- kind of carrying around unGodly qualities and doing many so-called unGodly things. When we descend into this world, we forget we relinquished our right as a God, as a Buddha, as a master so that we can undergo the journey that we have planned to undergo. We can call upon ourselves misery, disaster, darkness, so that we can experience the opposite of God-like character. So that we can reclaim ourselves with all right and glory that, "I am God and there is nothing better than Me because I have tried them."  I have told you already. And that is why I also told you that we cannot force people into returning to Godhood if they don't want to, because they have laid down their own plan of enlightenment, their own project of returning to the Kingdom. Nevertheless, as a God, of course we can always call it quits. Normally we don't, because also as God, we stick to our own project and we even ever create anew. So, if we are clever, we can also create new situations and don't stick to the old one, or create extra situations so that even though we stick to the old one, we are more comfortable when we have a new plan also. From the new plan will spring new opportunities and new situations so that we can return to the Kingdom of God quicker than others.  A King Relinquished His Throne But normally it's difficult, once we relinquished our power and come into the dark region of creation, very difficult to reclaim the light again. It takes a lot of effort.  For example, if a king relinquished his kingdom to someone and gives his throne, temporarily even, to someone. Oh! It's difficult to come back after ten or twenty years and say, "Hey, you know. It used to belong to me, now step down." After twenty years, maybe no one remembers that you were king even. And how can you get near the kingdom without passport? Talk about that first, or visa? Then who will let you go near to the palace, not to talk about stepping to the throne and saying to the king at the present time, "Get down, you." Before you could approach the king, you'd already be in jail, and you'd be in more trouble than not. And maybe you lost all your money while you were on the journey, and then you could not even get back to your country, not to talk about going to the throne and reclaiming your own glory and power.  Of course, in the Kingdom of God no one is sitting there on your throne, claiming it, and not giving it back to you. It's just that the situation gets worse and worse along the road, if you do not try to remember who you are. And even if you try, it's difficult. How can you remember God when everyday your wife and kids want bread and water to survive; and you yourself need the minimum to survive even. In some of the situations, it's really desperate. You can't remember God if your stomach keeps howling inside. It's saying, "Oooooh! I'm hungry! I want something."  Yes, the voice in our stomach will be louder than the voice of God, even the Quan Yin sound. So, it's very difficult for us once we've left the Kingdom of God to remember it again. Nevertheless, masters will be sent. The masters are those who already have undergone the journey, know every trick and trade in the business, and then can help us with a hand and bring us back. It's better that way. But eventually any soul will return to its own glory in time; takes longer or shorter depends on its desire. Some souls can desire to come earlier. But some souls decide to stay longer, despite the suffering and the hardship, so that they can create more and learn more about the opposite direction and qualities of God. So when they return they will feel more secure, more confident about what they are.  The Suffering Souls Need A Most Special Master These are greater masters even, with a lot more experience, a lot more power, a lot more talent, and a lot more of the know-how technique, how to deal with every and each situation in this world.  Sometimes, these kinds of masters have already mastered their own destiny and reclaimed their own kingdom and power, but they still decide to come back again and again into the physical world in order to help other souls who need more help than ordinary souls. Some souls are more clever or they laid down an easy plan for themselves to walk, so they can go quicker, or they don't suffer so much. Some souls laid down hardship for themselves. Well, no one can choose the same path all the time. The souls will not choose the copy cat way to walk their journey. So sometimes they choose a very, very delicate and very difficult and intriguing path to walk; and they encounter a lot of trouble, a lot of misery, a lot of hardship, a lot of suffering and an insurmountable task sometimes. They need a really special master, if there is one, if there is such a master available or willing to sacrifice their bliss and happiness in order to come down to share the journey and the suffering with these kinds of souls.  Sometimes it's too hard for the soul to bear, then it will cry out, "Help! Help, helllllppppp." (Master and audience laugh.) Even a very, very faint sound from the soul will be heard by the master. If it cries from its heart, then the master will come, without initiation even. Even if the soul's time has not come and can not meet the master in the physical body, the master would appear invisibly, in a dream or in a vision to help that soul; because every soul needs help when they undergo this kind of journey into this terrible domain of darkness. Not that darkness presides over this world or the nether world in that matter. It's just that we called upon ourselves darkness, so that it covers our soul, covers our entire journey, or some part of our journey. So that we can not see the light even though it is right in front of us.  So the soul, in desperate situations, calls out for help and the master or the Godhead is always in the near. Never any soul walks the lonely path alone. There's always assistance of the so-called guardian angels, the masters of higher order. Depends on how difficult the situation the soul gets himself into, the higher or the lower order of help will be despatched. Normal situations, maybe just angels or guardian spirits. In the more difficult situations, the desperate situations, the master must come. The master of the highest order must come in the most emergency cases. Never a soul walks lonely in darkness.  No Eternal Hell But sometimes, if the soul created too much difficulty for itself ... I mean, before it got into this world until it got into the difficulty, it has already mired itself into darkness, into misery already, and separated too long. Because it created so much trouble, or so much misery for other souls as well by doing so, by trying to deny its Godliness, it created so much misery, so much so-called sin already, then it would feel it does not deserve help. Therefore it could not even call out for help. Therefore, there is such a thing as hell, but not permanent. There is no such permanent hell. But for us, for a miserable and lonely soul at that time, hell is eternal. Every misery second is eternal to any soul who suffers that kind of situation.  Any long period of happiness is seconds to us. It never lasts so long; it seems like a flash, and it's gone. Suddenly, sit here and lecture ends already? (Master and audience laugh.) The barbecue finished? Come on, I have just sat down. (Laughter) I have just eaten about twenty chapatis, twenty hams (laughter) or sausages and vegetarian chickens, not much. (Master and all laugh.) Such happiness, hours we spent together, or days even seem so fast.  But miserable time, wow, it lasts like eternity, and that's why we call it eternal hell. There's no such thing as permanent hell, or eternal suffering, eternal damnation. Don't you ever believe in this. It is in a sense because suffering lasts so long, and it's terrible. Whenever you get hurt, or when the doctor has to operate on you or something, oh my God! It seems like you want to run out of it any second if you can. When you are bandaged all over and your hands are tied on the bed, or tied with a serum bottle, blood bottle or the blood-squeezing bottle hanging all over your body because they want to take the extra blood from the wound, so that it runs out and doesn't clog your system. Hanging all over, my God! You feel like you are suffocating!  It happened to me two weeks ago, I know what it is. It's still fresh in my mind. I said, "I never ever want to see a doctor again. Never ever. I'd rather die!"  Nevertheless, in any situation, doesn't matter how bad the soul has created circumstances for itself, each soul is a master, is God, is a Buddha. Never make any mistake about this. It's just that it takes a longer time to realize Buddhahood. If we find ourselves in an undeserving situation and deny ourselves the right even to pray for help, at that time, we suffer terribly. We suffer so great a loneliness that is equal to the worst hell that you can imagine. We feel like we're the most terrible being, and we suffer. Whatever we did to others, we suffer the same, same feeling; and that's what is called hell.  That's why we, as a practitioner, since we already know the way of God, should never ever create new situations again in which we have to suffer the same consequences that we created. That's why we must keep the precepts, keep our mind, speech and actions pure. Not because I say so, not because God will punish us; but because we will suffer, we will get very far away from Godhood, and we will feel very miserable and unworthy indeed. That's why we must recite the five names all the time, because those are God's qualities that you are reciting. It's not the names, and also it is the names, the holy names of the five Buddhas, five Gods in the five levels of consciousness. They represent the God qualities in the different levels. It's just like I say, "My foot, my knee, my solar plexus, my heart, my chest, my neck, my mouth, my eyes, my forehead; they're all mine even though they have different functions, different levels. No one would like to look at my feet all the time, but nevertheless, they are my feet. It's okay. Once you've touched my feet, it's my body too.  Create The Condition, Then Overcome It Why does the soul create for itself difficulty instead of choosing God level? I told you yesterday already. You have to create situations so that you can recognize your power of overcoming it, of winning all these that are not yourself, winning the opposite to your power. In order to win the opposite of your power, you have to create it, and then show your strength. Otherwise, what is the God there for? Okay, now fancy God sitting there all the time and saying, "I'm God, I'm God, I'm God. Everything is beautiful," And Hes eats, Hes couldn't even eat. Hes is a God, Hes doesn't need food. And Hes says, okay Hes would dress up. What for does Hes dress up, if Hes is already a God. No one sees Hirm. Hes is a God, one and only. What should Hes do then? Hes just says Hes is a God, almighty, all pervading and nothing else. Then there'd be just like a foggy or brilliant light all over the place, and that'd be it; no me, no you, no flowers, no trees, nothing.  So, in order to enjoy it more also, to prove that Hes is a God Hes has to create something. If Hes creates another God, what is the use? Two God sitting, facing each other (laughter) and saying, "What now, my love?" So, Hes has to create something to play with, to prove the power, or just to be God. God is creative. Oh, putting it that way, maybe that's Hiers job, Hes has to create. And in order to create a lot of things, Hes has to set Hirmself apart and each one is assigned a different function, just like a theater. Hes cannot play alone, even though Hes is the director. Hes has to assign Steven one role and the other one must be the bad guy. If everyone is a good guy in the movie, how can you play it? Now you got it? As actors and actresses, you'd be assigned different roles, and you wouldn't mind. You'd play the bad guy or you'd play the good guy, the money is all good. (Laughter) The fame is still good all the same.  Similarly, as God or as part of God, we did not have any fear to undertake anything before we came into this world. We just said "Okay!" to any role that was assigned to us. As a God, how would you fear anything. So, in order to make it more abundant then each God has to create situations for Hirmself, and no copy cats. 		God's Creation Is Abundant How can a God copy another. (Master and audience laugh.) Hes has to make it more dramatic, more creative. Whatever Hes creates is fine. Hes can create good, Hes can create evil, Hes can create bad, Hes can create favorable situations. Whatever it is, it's God. I mean God doesn't care. How can a God care, "Oh, that's scary. I don't want to go in there." (Master and audience laugh.) Or, "Oh, no, no. That's a bad role. I don't want to play that. It is bad for my reputation." As God, you would never ever think anything like that. In fact you don't think; just automatically create.  Now that's the danger. When we come into this world, we have already forgotten our power and our glory, and we create always a new thing. That's why we become more and more complicated each day. Then one day we will suffer a lot and called out, "Help!" Because at that time...sometimes we have forgotten also that we're God, and with the mind trying to create also something. The effect of this creation and that creation matched together make a third creation. The third creation breeds another fourth creation, and the second and fourth mixed together make it become seven other creations, all different characters. Even have a little bit diluted of this kind of character of the first creation but not the same.  That's why all persons do not look alike. And your children, doesn't matter how much they look like you, they still don't look like you that much. They look like the cross between you two or not at all.  As a God, even if God is divided into different parts, God cannot tell God, "Don't create this or don't create that." God is always ever free. There is no evil in God's terminology, but that doesn't mean evil doesn't exist, please, please. There's no evil in God's plan. They are just different creations so that things become more complicated, more colorful and more exciting, like a thriller or spy movie. Like Arnold Schwartzenegger ... if he's the one who plays a good guy, and no other character accompanies him who plays the bad guy, how can he destroy the enemy? How can he blast the bomb into their camp, or how can he become a hero (in the film) of his country if there is nothing else for him to play with. Other actors and actresses, doesn't matter how bad the role, they play; because the director already assigned Arnold the good role. You cannot two play together the same role.  Never, even in a family; because in the family there's only one boss, and normally it's your wife. (Master and audience laugh.) There's no need for you, not necessary at all, to play that role. So just keep aside and be the deputy, okay? Someone has to do something else, right? You be the good guy and play the second part.  Similarly, before the creation began each of us wanted to do something; or, God, the God of all Gods, of all of us, or the main part of the whole, told us, "Okay. Let's do something. We are all sitting here together in one and as one, and all is nothing. It's all boring, so we'll divide. Each will go a different direction or do different things, okay or not?"  They said, "All right!" (Master and audience laugh.) Then each one does something. Why not, huh?  So, now if I say to my feet, "Please walk!"  Would my feet say, "Come on, me? Why? Why do I have to walk everyday? I'm so tired of it already. I want to do something else!" (Laughter)  What can the feet do now? Can they eat something? (Laughter) No, not at all. The feet can only walk. If the feet refused to walk, then the whole thing would be in trouble. Could not exist, could not function. The feet or the hands, it's just like if the hands complained, "Oh, I work all the time. I work everyday just to feed him, the mouth." (Laughter)  "And I have to walk," the feet said. "Yeah, me too. I have to walk miles, or have to carry the whole body so that he can eat. No, we won't work anymore." Now the feet and the hands went on strike. Ah, the mouth has nothing to eat. (Laughter)  Okay, that's good for a while, and they feel good, the hands and the feet. But after a while, what happens then? The heart slows down, the liver complains, the gastric system goes berserk, producing gas all the time, but nothing to digest. After that, the feet and the hands also become instant noodles in hot water. The way you cook it, you soak it (laughter), and nothing functions, they get tired. So, they decided to work again. Same with us. Sometimes we suffer because we have forgotten that it's our assigned job, and we complain and we don't want to do it anymore. We die, we commit suicide, things like that. But we have to come back again and finish the job, because the whole creation depends on each one of us to function. Think of it, how important you are in this universe. You're not just a nobody, even if you're not enlightened, even if you're not a Quan Yin practitioner, even if you're very lowly; anyone is a part of the whole. That's why I told you never to mistreat others, never to complain about others, never criticize them. Whatever you can change, change. Whatever you feel uncomfortable about others, you tell them of course, but not in a bad spirit. Tell them and change it. If they cannot, then avoid it. I never tell you to "love thy neighbor, the tiger". If it's a tiger next door, don't love it. (Master and audience laugh.) Don't go and find a tiger, hug it, and say, "I am proving my love to all creation equally." It's not possible to do that. Avoid, if you can, whatever situations you cannot change. You can just drop them. Create new situations, and enjoy anew. But the best thing for us is we always have to create something so that we can always remind ourselves as God and try to also create situations so that other people will be reminded -- freely, willingly, who they are, if we can. That's our duty, but not forced upon by tricks. Just logically let them understand, let them remember, because the soul understands logic and reason and that's the only tool we can use in this world to help the souls return to the Kingdom of God. That's the agreement between each of the souls before they descended into this world -- that other souls could help them to quicken the journey, but not magic, not any miracle thing like those that they do in the inner world, in the secret between the veil.  Behind The Secret Curtain Between the curtain of darkness is light, is the inner world of peace, harmony, miracle, fulfillment, contentment and love. Behind that curtain is our private household. Anyone with Quan Yin power can enter behind the curtain and have a private meeting with the master, with all the master souls to get help, and come out again to survive in this world. That's why mostly you pray to the master, you see only the master inside helping you. No one else knows about it. Even the passenger next to you often doesn't see the master. Sometimes they do, but only rarely. You understand what I mean? Every miracle, every help must be rendered in secret, because that is the agreement between the souls.  You know why we can do that? Because at that time, the soul is allowed to step back into the Kingdom of God for a while, into this five spiritual worlds instead of remaining in the physical world. So whenever we want to get help, if we cannot bear this world and if we've forgotten our wisdom, we've forgotten our Buddha Nature, we must step inside that curtain where our private house is, where we regain part or the whole of our Buddha Nature again. We step back into the kingdom, into the circle of sainthood and there we can have a secret meeting and say, "Oh God, really my job is difficult. (Laughter) Give me some tips quickly." (Master and audience laugh.)  Of course, as master souls together, we're allowed to discuss as adults, as masters together already; but when you step back out of that black curtain again, back into the darkness, into the physical world, you're not allowed to be a master anymore. You forget immediately what you are, just like the day you descended on Earth. That is part of the agreement. That's a part of the game of the universe. So, if you understand all this, suffering is not real suffering anymore. It doesn't mean it won't hurt you if someone stabbed you on the leg, shot you, cursed you, humiliated you, or tried to do something harmful to you. It hurts still; but over all, this wisdom helps us to sustain our peace. Only the physical body suffers, the brain suffers; but we have, somehow, this basic peacefulness within us most of the time. So, even if we suffered for a while, we regain our smile immediately, almost, or very quickly. That's the good thing about remembering who you are and regaining the Godhood.  Each soul is already a Buddha, so he can anytime, try to create something new for himself if he doesn't like the thing that he created. He can either walk the whole journey or he can create something aside so that there's another effect that comes out of it. Then he continues that way and he doesn't have to continue this way, too. Once you walk into the master's circle, you can forsake whatever plan you have still in front of you, whatever effect or extra plan, the branches of the plan that you made before or created out of the karmic connection with the old pattern of life and the old creation that you made. Can create new or walk right here. Then the path is still there but unwalked, left; and grass, mud, everything will cover it and nothing more. That's how karma can be acquitted, can be left, can be burnt away, can be erased, no problem.  Why Master Cannot Deliver All Sentient Beings The master can do that, just drag you to another direction: "Come here, you!" (Master and audience laugh.) Because at that time, the soul wanted it. If the soul didn't consent, then it would not be possible; because soul is a Buddha (God). How dare you! No one dare do anything to a Buddha or try to influence a Buddha, and the master soul knows this, too. Even though he, at that time, doesn't remember he's a Buddha. But the Buddha must respect the Buddha all the same, because the master knows. The sentient being doesn't' know, or the disciple doesn't know, but the master knows it. He is the Buddha soul, so if he says "no" then it's "no". Ah, that's why you always ask me, "Why does the Buddha or the master not just drag him, blind him into love (Master and audience laugh), turn his heart and his mind, use miracles?" No! Can't. No can do. (Master and audience laugh.) If can do, then no need Buddha, no need Lao-Tze, no need Jesus even. Others already would have done it before Him. Or, if no one else came before Jesus, then at least Jesus would have been enough. One! The one and only son of God, He did it, enough. He would have turned all the world into angels. You and I would already be sitting up there and drinking tea by now. (Laughter) No need to work so hard, see what I mean honey?  Yes, that's why I never am in a hurry to try to force anyone into the Quan Yin Method, so you don't worry. See, you have printed a lot, millions and millions of copies of sample booklets in all the different languages, how many souls come here to me? Every month you have how many new brothers and sisters born? Your mother is really slow. (Master and audience laugh.) It's not my fault, because the soul sometimes decides that it doesn't want to go back to the Kingdom so soon. It likes to create even more situations. Normally the soul would try to create the quickest, possible situation for itself so that it can go back to the Kingdom of God. But because the creation is not always fixed, so whatever you created sometimes breeds another creation, another situation, and so and so and so.  God is free. God is not predictable. God is not the one who predicts the future and says, "I'll create this, and it will become that. Then I will get that and I will get this." Ah, then it's no fun anymore. But even if God knows that, our physical brain, and body functions don't know. Therefore we still suffer, there's still fun, because we have forgotten what we are doing and what we have done. Even consciously we create new situations everyday, but we also sometimes don't know it, and we blame the neighbors, blame the hardship, blame the suffering, or blame God for this. Actually, it's all our own doing. But I tell you what, there is no such thing as a theater drama plan like God already created everything, assigned someone a role, and the role remains like that. You know what I mean? Maybe he's a bad guy, okay, but eventually he will become good. That's not predictable. Each soul must create his own creation and journey, and therefore you see each one will beget something that he has created and that makes life different everywhere, every time for everyone.  The soul can be tired after playing too long and now it wants to rest. Then it calls out and the master soul, who has already finished or who is willing to come and help such a soul, will come to it. Or will be born in its vicinity and then meet it, born in its world and create something so that they both will meet. But that soul must be really yearning, must really want to go home. Otherwise everyone is free. You go, you stay, who cares. Each soul is the creator itself and makes its real creations for itself.Actually, each one of us is a Buddha, a God, at least part of God, part from the whole. Anything that is a part from the whole means it has the same quality anyhow. So, we are the mini Gods, and we are the master. Each one of you is a master, the supreme master at that.¸1

Help Viet refugees -- Verceles Jr.

Catanduanes Rep. Leandro B. Verceles Jr. yesterday supported a move by the Catholic Church asking the government to allow about 600 Vietnamese refugees or boatpeople to stay in the country after they failed to obtain asylum in Western countries.  The refugees, mostly former soldiers, Buddhist and protestant clerics, and political activists, are among the 1,000 Vietnamese facing repatriation.  Verceles, who filed House Bill No. 496 early this year to help Vietnamese refugees, stressed that the customary norm of temporary refuge in international law prohibits a state from forcibly repatriating foreign nationals who find themselves in a territory after having fled from violence, armed conflict, or other threats to their lives.  He explained that under Article 14 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, everyone has the right to seek and enjoy in other countries asylum from persecution.  He said he filed Bill No. 496 to urge President Ramos and other government officials to grant Vietnamese boatpeople refugee status for humanitarian reasons.  "Among the members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, the Philippines is the only signatory to the 1951 United Nations Refugee Convention and has had a commendable record of assistance to refugees," he said.  Verceles explained that Vietnamese boatpeople will not be a burden to the society as many of them have already established livelihood to support themselves, while various private businesses have shown willingness to employ those who are jobless. Mom Knows What I Want

"Mom is the greatest in the world; it's a rare treasure to have Her." When Master put the Celestial Jewelry on exhibit in Hong Kong, I made a special visit to the exhibition to admire the display. As soon as I entered the showroom, I spotted my favorite design -- Bodhidarma (in the Children's Collection) -- immediately. When I tried it on, I experienced the utmost blessing and love from Master. The design matches perfectly my outgoing personality and friendly look, even though I'm a middle aged lady. When one brother saw this, he commented, "Now I know why Master designed the 'Children's Collection'; it was to satisfy the desires of the 'big kid' in us."  The words enlightened me, and I came to truly appreciate that "only Mom (Master) knows what Her children want". Overwhelmed by a strong sense of gratitude, tears clouded my eyes ... I didn't waited any longer, paid the deposit, and took bundles of "Mom's" love home with me. 	



Only If You Are Sincere 

On the closing day of the Celestial Jewelry Show, I took the last chance with my son and a fellow sister, sister Lee, to look at the collections for the last time.  When sister Lee saw her favorite piece -- Positive Victory --she was overflowed with joy. Looking at herself in the mirror with the jewelry on, she stated, "This is so exquisite! I don't want to take it off. May I purchase it and wear it home today?"  Sister Lin, in charge of reception, thought for a second and replied, "Okay! Today is the last day of the show. You may take it with you."  "Wow, congratulations!" Upon receiving the inspiring admiration from all the people present, sister Lee was speechless with gratitude and immediately joined her palms in thanks to Master.  The atmosphere at the booth was very exciting; even with the easy conversations, laughter filled the entire showroom. All because of a Master's great blessing, our spirit is able to rise to higher levels and gladly join heaven.  One sister commented, "As long as you truly need it, against all odds, Master will grant you your wish." All the disciples present know and deeply feel that Master's love is everywhere in the universe.

During the summer holidays, sister Hsueh Yu Liu traveled to Cambodia to join the group working in developing the land there. She took with her a light suitcase, and was also asked by a branch Center to take some news magazines to Raising Center. 

Sister Liu put the magazines in her small suitcase, which fit in perfectly. Early the next morning she went to the airport and met some other fellow practitioners. The group proceeded to go through customs to begin the journey abroad. It was going quite smoothly, when suddenly a customs officer asked loudly, "Which one of you is Miss Hsueh Yu Liu?" Everyone was puzzled, wondering what had happened. 

"I am Hsueh Yu Liu," sister Liu stepped forward, bewildered. 

The customs officer questioned, "What have you got in this suitcase? Why did it cause such an intense noise indicating the presence of metal? Let's have the key and open it." 

Sister Liu replied, "I have only just bought the suitcase. There are only some books in it." 

Nonetheless, the customs officer insisted on opening it. When he looked into the opened suitcase he was baffled, "Strange! There are really just some magazines here. How come there was such an indication of metal? Was it the suitcase?" Then he took all the magazines out and inspected everything very carefully. 

When fellow practitioners watching the event noticed that the photographs on the back cover of the copy of News No.66 in the customs officer's hand were those of some of the Celestial Jewelry that Master had designed, they simultaneously smiled with understanding. 

After they cleared customs, one of the sisters could not help remarking, "Such is the power of a true Master. If the magnetic field of the photographs of the Celestial Jewelry is this strong, can you imagine how incredible the blessing power would be if one were to buy a set of Celestial Jewelry to wear!? No wonder the fellow practitioners who know rushed to order the Celestial Jewelry. They are really wise and have eyes for treasures."

It Is Real

One day, my mother and I was watching Master's videotape entitled "Find Your True Self" and all of a sudden, she began talking to Master on the screen. She was telling Master that She was her lifesaver, without Her help, she would have been dead by now. She always wanted to tell Master her true feeling, but she was too shy to say it, and only bowed to Her. That day, when she saw Master on the screen, she could no longer hold it in her heart. 

She was out in a heavy rainstorm a few months ago. A strong gust of wind tugged at her umbrella, dragging her along with it and resulting in her fall into the river. tTe surge of the wind current was like the rage of Yangzi River; in such an urgent situation, she prayed to Master for help. Master's transformation body came right away and pulled her out of the river. She remembered that Master also carried an umbrella. Master then took her to a tall building where She was staying and preached to her. She vowed to Master that she would keep a vegetarian diet, the five precepts and pursue spiritual practice. Finally, Master accompanied her downstairs. 

Listening to her, I understood now why my mother suddenly decided to become a vegetarian a couple of months ago and requested to listen to Master's voice everyday. Besides, whenever she hears Master's tapes or sees Master's pictures, she greets Her with closed palms. In addition, the pulmonary emphysema caused by her final stage of cancer was cured without any kind of medical treatment; all was the result of Master's powerful blessing. 

An interesting point is that my aged mother believes that whatever had happened to her was real. She does not think Master's help had come to her in a vision. When she talks to Her on the screen, she does not think she is talking to a projection. Now she misses Master with her whole heart and relies on Master's arrangements completely. 

Master, no word can express our appreciation. The best way to return Your grace is through my devotion to spiritual practice.

Supreme Medical Skill

During the Opening Ceremony of Raising Center, I joined the kitchen staff. A few days before the ceremony, all the workers and fellow practitioners worked diligently in preparation. One evening, while we were busy (until ten o'clock) preparing snacks, a call came in on the walkie-talkie from the car out on routine patrol: A soldier was sick, rolling on the ground and holding his stomach. Perhaps it was appendicitis. Could members of the medical team come and help immediately?!! In such urgent situation, without delay, I tried my best to help and quickly went to the pharmacy and collected some pills for stomach pains, some Chinese medicine and acupuncture needles. Then I informed the information desk and drove off to the soldier's post in the patrol car. 

During the ride there, I felt numb and uncertain about the patient's condition and about having the right medicine. As it was so late, it might be a problem to send the patient to the hospital. I began to recite the Holy Names, praying that Master would take care of everything. Immediately my heart calmed down. The car passed by several soldier's posts, over a grass field, onto a small piece of land, and finally by a campfire was a man lying in a hammock; he was writhing in pain and his complexion was awful. It was quite unbearable to watch him. 

Glancing around, I noticed the miserable living conditions of the soldiers. Turning to the soldier, I took his pulse; it was very slow. Without a second thought I applied the needles and gave him some Chinese medicine. Due to the language barriers, I could not communicate his condition to him; and in this case, I could only rely on Master's blessing and use my instincts to handle the situation. 

After taking out the needles, we brought him to the nearest post for observation. In less than half an hour the patient was able to sit, talk, and even smile. He could get out of bed and walk around. This could hardly be explained medically. The brothers on patrol and I were relieved and happy for the patient, thinking that without Master's supreme and compassionate medicine, this miraculous recovery could never have taken place -- especially with the poor medical facilities available. 

Thank You, Master, for everything!

Did you brush your teeth? Brush them thoroughly, otherwise they will decay. Do not only brush your teeth, but also your tongue as well. Talking about brushing teeth, I'll tell you a secret, don't use too much toothpaste. Each time just use a little bit, the amount about as big as the head of a chopstick, like a garden pea should be enough. If you use too much toothpaste, your teeth will turn black. There are some children who brush their teeth very often, and their teeth are still black.  Brush your teeth three times a day (after meals or sweets); and when you brush your teeth, brush them up up, down down, and around. Brush your tongue as well, so you won't have bad breath.

Only when you are grown up, then you'll know how hard it is to earn money. Some parents eat little, spend little, because they want to buy things for us. Therefore, we should show filial piety to our parents. In school, we should study hard, make our teachers happy. When we get home, we should help out with the housework. Then we will become clever. Lazy children become more and more stupid. That's true! Do you think I am clever? (Children answer: Clever!) Yes! Because I started to work when I was young; I helped my parents and the servants with the chores at a young age. Use your brain, only then will it become clever. Everyday we have to look for work to do, then the brain will become clever. Do whatever you are able to help your parents. If you can not wash both your socks, then wash only one. Wait until you grow up, then you can wash both socks. Learn to wash your own clothes. Later, you will get use to it.

Dear Master, 

How are You? I haven't written to You for a long time. I miss You so much. 

It is my deepest feeling that the group which practices the righteous method is a group of saints. I appreciate very much the help and blessings from You, the Buddhas and the Bodhisattvas. My gratitude cannot be expressed in words. 

I have always been interested in nature, philosophy and history ever since I was very young. However, what has truly benefitted me started from the moment I met You. This comes from the bottom of my heart. Perhaps, most people lack the aspiration to search for the Tao (Truth), therefore they cannot understand us, the disciples, easily. 

If people would constantly remind themselves of what they should do and not ponder over what price they have to pay or how hard it is, etc., they would have better understanding and experiences. 

I realize that if there were no great enlightened masters like You, our society, our nation and our planet would be like the sky without the sun and moon; it would be quite pitiful. 

Please allow me to make an offering, a poem written from the point of view of a practitioner. Please correct our mistakes in our spiritual practice at all times. I pray for more blessings from You, my Master. 

May all things be done as You wish.

I went to Cambodia to attend the retreat and the Opening Ceremony of Raising Center. In the crowd I saw brother Giang walking with crutches due to poliomyelitis. Although he moved slowly and tried harder than others to avoid the muddy areas, his desire to see Master was not at all affected. Walking in the rain, he could not hold an umbrella, but he was not discouraged from his quest for the Truth. He knew that it would be inconvenient for him with daily activities during those few days, but he still decided to attend the retreat.  "I don't feel bad. I have gotten used to it since I was a little boy anyway, the external obstacle is not the real obstruction. One's biggest obstruction is the inner obstacle," brother Giang said. Beaming with an optimistic smile, he positively looked at his own life journey. He remembered when he was just initiated, he felt as if he had obtained the most valuable gem in the world. He even carried a walkman to work in order to listen to Master's tapes all the time.  "At that time, I wanted to retreat from the worldly life and completely devoted myself to spiritual practice. Gradually I understood Master's teachings more and more. I understood that spiritual practice is to bless the world and this help me get rid of my inner struggle. Now I feel at peace," he recalled. 		After cutting the ribbon at the opening ceremony, Master left in Her car. When the car was passing by brother Giang, Master suddenly stuck Her head out of the window, looked at him, and said, "You all have to take care of this fellow practitioner. Don't get in his way." At that particular moment, brother Giang was so touched by Master's care and compassion. She really takes good care of everyone in need, including both inner and outer needs. At the opening ceremony, Master treated the Cambodians sincerely and gently. Everyone was moved by the abundance of Her love. When Master arranges things, She is always considerate so as not to hurt others and does everything naturally without pressuring anyone. She does Her best to help people in need.  After seeing Master, brother Giang decided to meditate more diligently, to overcome his laziness and to get closer to Master to learn Her qualities of beauty, virtue and Truth.

Au Lac poetry is a very rich treasure. It has bred many well-known poets and poetic works that have won universal praise. The works of two poets, Vu Hoang Chuong and Dinh Hung, are especially loved by the Au Lac people.  On a recent special occasion, Supreme Master Ching Hai lovingly introduced some works of these well-known Au Lac poets and personally recited them. In order to satisfy the yearning of the public, the recitation has been specially made into three CD's. The process of making them has been time-consuming and has taken great skill. Furthermore, the cover designs are very delicate and artistic. Quietly listening to Supreme Master Ching Hai's poetry recitation, listeners not only will be able to be in tune with the spirit of the poets, but will also be touched and blessed with Her noble and elegant rising and falling voice; they can also enter the wonderful artistic world of poetry and be deeply moved.
