97/Children's Letter/Whales, Oh Whales!
Dear Master Ching Hai,
Hello, how are You? I am a girl called Wai Nam Man. I'm 12 years old and I'm a disciple but not a full initiate. Hopefully I will be fully initiated soon. I am looking forward to joining the retreats, because I want to be part of the Art and Decoration working team.
I've written a poem about whales. I hope You like it, and I also drew You a picture. My friend, Mandosa On, and I wrote You a second poem. We hope You enjoy it.
Please take care. I'm hoping to get initiated fast and I hope to see You at some of the retreats soon.
Wai Nam Man Children's Letter
Why. oh why,
do we kill whales just for food?
Hearing the whales splashing in the water,
watching on T.V about the slaughter.
I can see the whale's tail,
flapping like a bird's wing.
To each other the whales sing.
Hear I am standing on a cliff.
The sound of the whales lights up the sky.
I can smell the fragrance of the whales.
I can see the boats with tall sails.
At the break of dawn,
I see the reflection in water of the sun.
The whales must certainly know the
Humans have won.
Whales, Oh Whales! Dreaming About You
