Nature's Toxin-Evacuating
"Shovel"
by R. Fletcher Bertram, Sr.
When we become ill, we should not think in terms of a certain name for certain symptoms. The key words we should be concerned with are enervation and toxicosis. It is Impossible to become ill without first becoming enervated to the extent that toxiccosis develops. No matter what name we give to our symptoms, they all arise from the same source- an over accumulation of toxins in the system.
The symptom complex presented, merely indicates the location of the exit route the body has chosen to rid itself of poisonous waste material, e.g., the "measles," so named because the skin is being selected as an outlet, or "pneumonia" where the lungs have been chosen to expel life-threatening debris.
It is not the "measles" that should be "treated." It is not "pneumonia" that should "fought against." They, along with other name considerations, are only local manifestations of an overall toxic system. The entire body must be considered in dealing with any acute so-called disease.
As unpleasant as they are, symptoms are evidence that purification and healing action is taking place. It's a colossal error to suppress them! Let us examine how symptoms appear and how each individual is solely responsible for the cause(s) of them:
The body operates on nerve energy. Under ordinary circumstances, sufficient energy is generated through rest and sleep, to efficiently perform normal functional activities. However, when, due to poor dietary indiscretions and other bad living habits, the outgoing energy exceeds the incoming energy to the degree we become enervated, the body cannot keep up with the necessary expulsion of the by-products of metabolism, thereby creating a buildup of toxins throughout the organism.
While this build up of metabolic waste rises above our particular tolerance level, the body, out of self-preservation, purposely initiates a vicarious eliminative action to lower it. This action involves various symptoms. It is these symptoms we call "disease." (Think of all the numerous conditions that are associated with the very same symptoms.)
The lowering or our nerve energy is like an "overdrawn" notice from the bank. Instead of making "deposits" to raise our energy account, we run to the physician who observes, but does not recognize, the symptoms as being a REMEDIAL EFFORT of the body and proceeds to "clobber" them one by one with an antagonistic antibiotic or some other dangerous, senseless suppressive procedure. This, of course, increases the level of toxins that Nature, in her wisdom, was trying to expel. (The Bank sends another overdrawn notice.)
No matter what part of the body Nature selects as an "emergency exit," she is determined to get rid of the "trash" one way or another! Common sense tells us to cease blaming our "diseases" on microorganisms and realize that "disease" only exists as long as there is a need for it to exist. As long as the asthmatic continues to live in a manner that compels on-going expulsive processes, asthma will remain a tormenting effect of bodily abuse. When causes are eradicated, asthma will vanish; and if a regimen of healthful living is established, there will be no necessity for it's return!
As long as we indulge in the causes of the "flu," we will schedule ourselves to periodic "bouts" with the mythical "flu bug." When we stop accumulating morbid matter in our blood, tissues, and lymph system. We will never again have to be concerned with "coming down with the flu bug."
As long as our mode of living is in violation of physiological laws, we must accept the fact we will experience periodic toxin-lowering crises; and we must realize that whether we call those crises the common cold, the flu, tonsillitis, hepatitis, AIDS, herpes genitalis or any other name, IT IS ALL THE SAME THING!
Be wise enough to discontinue the manner of living that is squandering the nerve energy you need to keep your body functioning like a "well-tuned engine."
In the event you fail to obey the laws of nature and allow the accumulation of toxic matter, be thankful your body has sufficient vitality (nerve energy) to respond to the "trash pile" by intelligently taking away your appetite and otherwise forcing you to conserve energy that is required to operate her toxin-evacuating "shovel." Whether people realize it or not; whether physicians realize it or not, that "shovel" is Nature's built-in mechanism to maintain self-preservation and the perpetuation of the human species!
If you take your health problems to a physician, that, of course, is your decision. On the other hand, you may question the advisability of doing anything at all that will interfere with Nature's curative shovel!
If we have sense enough to know we cannot duplicate a blade of grass; cannot manufacture the seed that produces a tree or tomato, we should have the sense to processes the "know how" associated with the intricate healing processes of Nature... processes so fantastically efficient that, if we foolishly suppress or let anyone suppress the beneficial action of Nature's shovel, she wisely "trash bags" the excessive waste rather than allowing it to raise "holy havoc" in our system. We call these "trash bags" tumors.
Does it make sense to cut into these "garbage" containers and let the toxic matter escape back into our bloodstream, cells, and tissues? Or would it be better to abstain from all food for a period of time and give the body a chance to absorb and excrete their contents? Through the process of autolysis, the body is able to digest tumors, deposits, and effusions and even utilizes the food elements they contain to nourish vital components of the organism. (Fasting can be our best friend in more ways than one!) Instead of paying attention to our symptoms, we should concentrate on their cause. We can never eradicate their cause by treating end results!
